Physical DescriptionBeige pashmina shawl with an elaborate embroidered design throughout in red, orange, and brown. The center of the design depicts thin branches with leaves and large swirling paisleys that cross over into the other rows of the design. Each row of the embroidery has floral motifs and are separated by looping lines. The short edges of the shawl are unadorned.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of a working visit to the White House by Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in October, 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
