Physical DescriptionCarved wood statue of a woman wearing a wrap on the lower half of her body. Her left arm is raised and held atop her head and her right arm is holding a bowl that's resting on the front of her legs. The wood has lighter sections in some areas.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of the First Family's visit to Senegal in June 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the First Family during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
