Physical DescriptionBeaded basket in the shape of a chicken. The main part of the basket has sections filled with orange glass beads and smaller sections of empty space, with a rim wrapped in blue coated wire and a base wrapped in yellow coated wire. The six tail feathers of the chicken are each made of mostly one color with separate colored glass beads sprinkled throughout. The tail feathers are green, blue, red, orange, purple, and one that is completely made up of multiple colors. The head of the chicken is made up of orange, green, blue, red, and yellow glass beads with two larger glass beads for its eyes, and yellow coated wire for its beak.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
