Physical DescriptionCeramic figurine in the shape of a bear. The bear has been painted teal and its body is overlaid with depictions of famous Berlin landmarks, as well as crowds of abstract people and boats on water. The outlines of the buildings, people, and boats are carved into the figurine. Throughout the bear's neck and face there are painted dots in red, yellow, pink, and white.Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama's June 2013 visit to Germany.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to Malia Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
