Physical DescriptionBlack and white patterned pano wrap, a type of cloth sewn from six strips of fabric that was treated as a form of currency in Cabo Verde during the slave trade. It has fringe on the short ends.Historical NoteReceived in March 2013 on the occasion of a meeting between President Barack Obama and leaders of Sierra Leone, Senegal, Malawi, and Cabo Verde.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
