Physical DescriptionSmall commemorative statue composed of a metal cross attached to a slanted wooden base. The cross is a model of a larger one that overlooks Santiago, Chile. The obverse of base has a token in blue, white, and yellow for the municipality of Renca and a plaque of dedication from the Mayor of Renca. The reverse of the item has a plaque detailing the history of the cross.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of of President Sebastián Piñera of Chile's June 2013 visit to the White House.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
