Physical Description
Physical DescriptionWooden staff featuring etchings on all sides. The Roman numerals for the numbers 1-44 are carved down one side of the staff to represent the first 44 Presidents of the United States. "I," "XIV," and "XLIV" are circled, representing President George Washington, President Abraham Lincoln, and President Barack Obama respectively. "Psalm 46:1," "Psalm 46:2," "Psalm 46:11," and "Joshua 1:7," along with their respective verses, are carved down the side of the staff as well as the words "God Bless America" and "Barack Hussein Obama J.R." and "12-17-2011 by Ronnie Stevens." The top of the staff has a depiction of the Presidential Seal carved into one side, and a depiction of a cross carved into the other side. All of the carvings are filled in with black. There is a rubber foot attached to the bottom of the staff.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
