Physical DescriptionLot of 100 oversized white envelopes with a black print of the United States Capitol behind two leafless trees with the words "THE WHITE HOUSE THANKSGIVING 2011 MEXICO-USA" below. Each envelope contains a composited print of the nine-panel painting, "The Day and Night — in the White House." The print depicts three turkeys in front of the dome of the U.S. Capitol Building. The left side of the painting is yellow and orange, depicting a sunrise. The right side of the painting is blue with a moon. Both sides of the painting have dark branched trees with abstract depictions of people forming the trunk and tree limbs. Below the print are the words "THE DAY AND NIGHT - IN THE WHITE HOUSE THANKSGIVING 2011" printed in black along with additional artist and artwork information printed in black in the bottom right corner and to the right of the print. Each envelope was sealed with a silver star sticker.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
