Physical DescriptionBlack purse with a long black strap and embroidered scene. The colorful embroidered and beaded scene depicts an alligator with a flamingo standing on its head with a fish below the alligator's tail. They are depicted in a river with flowers on the bank, below a sun. Embroidered on the strap is "from Golang Team 2011" There is a zippered pocket on the obverse.
Historical NoteReceived when the First Family visited the Zandspruit Township Daycare Center on their trip to South Africa in 2011.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to the First Family during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
