Physical DescriptionBlue and white Gzhel style ceramic teapot with lid. The body of the teapot has four feet and decorative flourishes on the handle. Both sides are painted with an illustration of a Russian palace or castle inside a circle, decorated with floral motifs and lines around the feet, neck, spout, handle, and body. The lid is painted with a floral motif and the knob is painted blue.
Historical NotePresented on the occasion of a visit by Foreign Minister Sergey V. Lavrov of Russia to the Oval Office.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
