Physical DescriptionAuthentic blue Chicago Bears jersey with the number "85" and "Obama" embroidered on back. The jersey has a V-neck and is a mesh like fabric. The sleeves are each bordered with three orange stripes. The number "85" is embroidered on the front, back, and each sleeve. "GSH" is embroidered on the left sleeve over the stripes. There is a Reebok logo at the top of each shoulder and the NFL logo is embroidered at the bottom of the v-neck. At the front bottom there is an official NFL equipment label and the Reebok logo.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of an event at the White House to honor the 1986 Super Bowl Champion Chicago Bears. In 1986, the team’s White House reception was canceled due to the Space Shuttle Challenger tragedy.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
