Physical DescriptionRed Tunisian tapestry with white geometric designs around the long edges and black geometric designs around the short edges along with tassels. There are three stripes that cross the tapestry and each consist of three black stripes and two red stripes that each have white geometric designs inside them. On both sides of the center stripe are lines of white designs.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of a working visit to the White House by Tunisian Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi on October 7, 2011.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
