Physical DescriptionReddish brown wooden presentation box (.a) with inset removable tray (.b). The top bears an inscribed message for President Barack Obama and the inside has an inset compass between three plaques, next to a compartment to hold a portable DVD player and remote. Carved inside the lid is the Seal of the President of the United States. The compass is gold-colored metal with liquid inside to act as a level, as the compass can rotate. There is Velcro attached to the inside of the compartment to hold the DVD player in place.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
