Physical Description
Physical DescriptionDodecagon (twelve sided) shaped ottoman with purple leather upholstery and a decorative design painted in yellow on the sides and top. Stool sits on three rounded wooden feet. The top of the ottoman opens up from a hinge. The interior has a geometric design in the lid and body of the stool. Inside the ottoman are two wooden trays, painted the same colors of purple and yellow. Each tray has two handles, twelve sides, and the smaller one nests inside the larger one.
Historical NoteReceived by the State Department from Zine el Abidine Ben Ali, the President of the Republic of Tunisia, through the Tunisian Embassy in December 2010.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
