Physical Description
Physical DescriptionMiniature model of a red cycle rickshaw in a clear acrylic case on a two-tiered base with gold chains around each tier. The rickshaw has a black frame with a red seat, carriage, pedals, and front tire rim. It has a retractable red mesh carriage cover. The rickshaw rests on red felt. There are two plaques on the front and the back of the base.

Historical NoteReceived personally on President Obama's official visit to India in November 2010. The founder of the Sammaan Foundation, Irfan Alam, was invited to attend the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in Washington DC, April 26 - 27, 2010. Alam was also invited to participate in a meeting of young entrepreneurs in Mumbai during the President's visit in November 2010.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
