Physical DescriptionScroll painting of bodhisattva inset in hanging mount of black, gold and red fabric. The painting is the image of Sadaksri (Shadakshari), a four-armed variant of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who is holding his inner hands to his chest in anjali mudra, the gesture of adoration. A the top of the mount is attached a green fabric cover.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of the 2010 U.S.-India Business and Entrepreneurship Summit in Mumbai.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
