Inscriptions and MarkingsInscribed on end page and title page: To His Excellency Barack Obama, It is my pleasure to present to your Excellency a copy of my book. This work is the culmination of extensive research that I carried out in under- standing the multi-dimensional nature of terrorism & how to deal with it successfully. Along with tracking the history of world terrorism, the book elaborates the Islamic perspective & the root causes that have contributed to the spreading of terrorism in recent times. It also outlines the domestic, regional & international dimension of the Saudi Anti-Terror Strategy & its success in countries that have emulated it. This book is a humble effort from an individual who has been at the epicentre of having to deal with the fallout of the heinous phenomenon. It is my hope that it would help in clearing some ambiguities about Islam & its inherent abhorrence of the scourge of terrorism as well as bringing about a better under- standing & consequently, building of more effective barriers against extremism & intolerance in times to come. Excellency, please accept my sincerest good wishes. I pray for the success of your efforts in bringing peace to the world. God bless you & your family. Yours sincerely, Ali S. Awadh Asseri Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Lebanon [author’s signature]
