Physical DescriptionWhite and blue striped New York Yankees baseball jersey with a "World Series 2009 Fall Classic" patch on the right sleeve and a "Yankee Stadium 2009 Inaugural Season" patch on the left sleeve. The Yankees logo patch is applied to the left chest. In the center of the reverse is the navy blue number 27 patch with the autographs of the Yankees team across the back in black ink.
Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of the New York Yankees visit to the White House on April 26, 2010 for a reception in honor of winning the 2009 World Series. The jersey is number 27 to represent that the championship was the New York Yankees 27th World Series win and it was the number of the team manager, Joe Girardi.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
