Physical DescriptionMetal relief of an eagle rising from smooth copper backing. Beneath the eagle is a painted scene of a river bordered by low hills and vegetation native to Africa. The piece has a raised metal border around all edges shaped like a branch with medallions in each corner containing depictions of an elephant.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.
