Physical DescriptionTraditional Senegalese cloth doll, posed with both arms down, wearing a golden gown with large puffy sleeves and a matching cone shaped hat with a wrap at the brim of the hat. White seed beads are sewn onto the doll for adornment as earrings, a necklace, and a bracelet on either arm. The doll's body is made of dark brown fabric, has embroidered facial features, and stands due to a metal base hidden under the skirt.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to Malia and Sasha Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
