Physical DescriptionSandalwood box with an intricate lattice floral pattern carved into the sides and lid. There is a wood latch on the front and a small divider on the interior. The box sits on eight legs. The lid opens with metal hinges at the back.
Historical NoteReceived in April 2010 from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh of India during a meeting at Blair House in Washington, DC.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
