Physical DescriptionMetal ball-shaped Christmas ornament with pineapple design in enamel and gold-colored metal filigree. Enamel pineapples are yellow with green tops. Design is lattice with open spaces between the leaves of the pineapples.Historical NoteReceived as a holiday gift for the President and First Lady from Pamela Hamamoto and her family in December 2009. Hamamato is a childhood friend of President Obama and fellow classmate at Punahou School in Hawaii. In 2014, President Obama nominated her to the post of Ambassador as Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations and Other International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
