Physical DescriptionReplica of the address by Alexander II to the people of the North American States with a gray matte border and held in a light wood birch frame. Along the top are depicted a man and a woman shaking hands. To the side of both of them are children. Two children are on the left and three are on the right. Along the left side of the speech are an eagle in front of a pillar and several American flags. Along the right side is a pillar with a two-headed eagle in front of it. In the lower left corner is a depiction of Abraham Lincoln. Behind him are three black people. In the lower right corner is a depiction of Alexander II. There are three people in front of him. In the center, below the speech are two women sitting with a bust in front of them. Behind them is a body of water with ships in it.Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
