Physical DescriptionWood jewelry music box with exterior graphic depicting garden fairies playing with flowers, snails, butterflies and dragonflies. Yellow flower pattern on the drawers and edges of the lid. Box opens to reveal a spinning plastic fairy. The back has a brass turn key to wind the musical mechanism that causes the fairy to twirl once the lid is opened. Toy fairy is wearing a red cap and shoes, has yellow wings and a purple dress. There are four drawers with gold metal knobs, one on each side of the box.Historical NoteReceived from Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende in September 2009 at the G20 Summit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to Sasha Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
