Physical DescriptionGold-toned metal commemorative FIFA medal. On the front of the medal there is the FIFA logo, two overlapping depictions of the Earth, one containing the Western Hemisphere and other containing the Eastern Hemisphere. Both of the planets have a honeycomb overlay to look like soccer balls. On the reverse of the coin there is a printed dedication to President Barack Obama. Along the curved edges of the reverse the full title of FIFA, Federation Internationale de Football Association, is embossed.

Historical NoteReceived on the occasion of an Oval Office meeting between President Barack Obama and Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) President Joseph S. Blatter on July 27, 2009. They met to discuss the United States' bid to host the FIFA Men's World Cup in 2018 or 2022.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Barack Obama during the Obama administration. It was received through the Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
