Physical DescriptionKorean black lacquerware jewelry box set with depictions of colorful butterflies that have wings made of inset mother of pearl on the outside and a gold latch in the shape of a butterfly. Inside is entirely inlaid with mother of pearl.
Historical NoteReceived personally form South Korea President Lee Myung-bak and South Korea First Lady Kim Yoon-ok during an official foreign state visit to the White House in June 2009
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to Malia and Sasha Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
