Physical DescriptionLacquered wood jewelry box with rounded edges and three indented grooves marking the opening, amber is set into the wood and painted with images of blue butterflies and grape leaves surrounded by gilded embellishments, the interior and bottom is lined with forest green velvet. Design on the raised part of the lid is in the shape of a chrysalis.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Michelle Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
