United Nations General Assembly Visit 20092009

The sixty-fourth session of the United Nations General Assembly ran from September 14, 2009 to September 15, 2010 and was presided over by Ali Treki of Libya. The theme of the sixty-fourth session was "Effective responses to global crises: strengthening multilateralism and dialogue among civilizations for international peace, security and development.”

President Barack Obama attended the assembly from September 21 to September 24, 2009. President Obama presented a speech to the General Assembly on September 23, 2009 in which he discussed international security, the global economic crisis, and climate change. President Obama also took part in various meetings and councils.
