President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama traveled to Santiago, Chile on March 21, 2011. President Obama met with President Sebastián Piñera of Chile at La Moneda Palace. The goal of the visit was to strengthen US-Chile trade relations. President Obama later spoke at the Centro Cultural Palacio de La Moneda, where he praised Chile’s transition to democracy.
