The first US-African Leaders Summit was hosted by President Barack Obama in Washington, DC from August 4 through August 6, 2014. Leaders from fifty African states attended to discuss trade, investment, security, and development. The summit was built on President Obama’s trip to Africa in the summer of 2013 and aimed to strengthen ties between the United States and Africa. The theme of the summit was “Investing in the Next Generation" and focused on stimulating growth, unlocking opportunities, and creating an enabling environment for the next generation.
