The third Nuclear Security Summit was held on March 24 and March 25, 2014 at The Hague, the Netherlands. The purpose of the summit series is to promote international collaboration in combating the threat of nuclear terrorism, protecting nuclear materials and facilities, and preventing trafficking of nuclear materials. The 2014 summit resulted in The Hague Communiqué, a commitment from the participating countries to reduce their enriched uranium and plutonium stockpiles, convert their reactors, and revise their nuclear security-related legislation.
