President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama traveled to Pretoria, South Africa for an official visit on June 29, 2013. President Obama held a bilateral meeting and joint press conference with President Jacob Zuma of South Africa and participated in a town hall for Young African Leaders at the University of Johannesburg - Soweto. That evening, President Obama and the First Lady were honored with an official dinner.
The following day, President Obama was joined by his family to tour Robben Island, where former President Nelson Mandela was held for the majority of his imprisonment. President Obama also attended a community health center event at the Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation Youth Center.
