Presidential Inauguration 2013
The second inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States took place on January 20 and January 21, 2013. The official private swearing-in ceremony occurred on Sunday, January 20 with Chief Justice John Roberts administering the oath of office to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden in the Blue Room of the White House.
As the official observance fell on a Sunday, a public inaugural ceremony was held the following day, Monday, January 21, at the West Front of the United States Capitol Building. "Faith in America’s Future" served as the inaugural theme to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. In his inaugural address, President Obama discussed climate change, immigration reform, gun control, and civil rights.
