G20 Toronto Summit 20102010
The G20 (short for Group of 20) is an intergovernmental forum composed of most of the world's largest economies which encompasses 19 sovereign nations and the European Union. Formed in 1999, the goal of the G20 is to address issues related to the global economy and has had an annual summit, hosted by a member state, every year since 2008.
The 4th G20 heads of government meeting was hosted by Canada on June 26th through 27th, 2010, in Toronto, Ontario. The theme of the summit, as dictated by the host nation, was "recovery and new beginnings" and focused on economic stimulus to address the continuing global recession.
Canada also hosted the G8 summit in 2010 during the two days directly preeceding the G20.
