The G20 (short for Group of 20) is an intergovernmental forum composed of most of the world's largest economies which encompasses 19 sovereign nations and the European Union. Formed in 1999, the goal of the G20 is to address issues related to the global economy and has had an annual summit, hosted by a member state, every year since 2008.
The 2nd G20 heads of government meeting was hosted by the United Kingdom on April 2nd, 2009. Often referred to as the London Summit, the goal of the meeting, as dictated by the host nation, was "to start the process of reform so as to manage globalisation as a force for good in the medium term".
