Singapore State Visit 20162016
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore and his wife, Ho Ching, to the White House for an official State Visit on August 2, 2016. The purpose of the visit was to mark fifty years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. President Obama and Prime Minister Lee discussed bilateral security and economic partnerships, especially in regards to the Trans-Pacific Partnership, regional security in the South China Sea, and combating terrorism. Prime Minister Lee was also honored with a State Dinner in the East Room of the White House.
