Physical DescriptionPadded cloth case for an African drum that is slightly wider on the top and thinner on the bottom to fit the shape, and has two straps on back for carrying. The case is made of ankara fabric, or African wax, that has repeating geometric patterns in light yellow, red, black, and green. Zipper at the top opens the back and the interior is a white.Historical NoteReceived during the President and First Lady's trip to Senegal in June 2013.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to the First Family during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
