Physical DescriptionMetal and porcelain Crest of Galway mounted on a wooden plaque, The crest depicts a drawing of a yellow boat on a blue body of water. The crest is surrounded by a floral decoration and there is a knight's helmet above the crest. Above the crest is the word, "Saillim." On the reverse is a metal bracket for hanging the plaque on a wall.
Historical NoteReceived personally from Padraig Conneely, Mayor of Galway Ireland, on a visit to the White House in March 2009.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
