Physical Description
Physical DescriptionDecoratively carved light brown wooden Ashanti stool. The sides of the seat curve upward and the base is three tiered rectangles. The middle portion of the stool is carved in curving heart shapes. Carved into the top of the seat is are geometric lines forming a square, and at the center a flower-like shape with four petals inside a square. There are triangles jutting out from the sides of the stool and carved into the sides of the base's tiers and edges of the top of the stool are rows of triangles that form squares.
Custodial History / ProvenanceThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Barack Obama during the Obama Administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January 2017 for deposit with the Obama Presidential Library.Additional Details
