G7 Summit Schloss Elmau 2015
Event TypeIntergovernmental Summit
June 7, 2015 - June 8, 2015
The G7 is an intergovernmental forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US. The forum had previously included Russia and was known as the G8, but reverted to the G7 when Russia was expelled from the group due to its annexation of Crimea. The European Union also participates as a “non-enumerated member.” The goal of the G7 is to discuss major global issues, including trade, security, economics, and climate change. The Heads of State for the member countries would meet at an annual summit, with the agenda set by the host country.
The 41st G7 summit was held in Schloss Elmau, Bavaria, Germany from June 7 to June 8, 2015. The topics of discussion for the summit, as set by host country Germany, consisted of promoting the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, climate change action, marine protection, and women’s entrepreneurship, amongst others.
