ASEAN Naypyidaw 20142014

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is an intergovernmental forum composed of independent member states from the Southeast Asia region. The objective of the forum is to promote economic growth, social progress, cultural development, and regional peace through security cooperation among its members. Although not a member of ASEAN, the United States participates as a “dialogue partner.”

President Obama attended the 2014 ASEAN Summit in Naypyidaw, Burma from November 12 to November 14, 2014. The President attended a US-ASEAN Leaders’ meeting and the East Asia Summit meeting.
